Master of Orion 3 just arrived, ahead of schedule. Mom's already got the box so she can get her rebate. Looks really sweet. Debating whether or not to start playing it before the code patch comes out that will supposedly make everything more playable. Hmm. Meanwhile, I've started to look over the manual (on paper, thank the Gods).
I've also been on the net, looking for things. I found this stuff:
- Settlers 3D -- Networked Settlers game for Windows. Beautiful 3D graphics. Has sound effects and the European tileset as add-ons. A version of Seafarers is in the works, too. Update:So is Cities & Knights, one of my favorite mods.
- OpenRPG -- Combination chat client, diceroller (with d20 custom diceroller that lets you make DC checks and ability rolls), map display and character tracker. Works over the net. Written in Python.
- Maxima -- Open-source computer algebra system. Uses a command-line interface. Useful for math classes.
And now, without further adieu, I'm off to test this new Settlers client thoroughly.
