Friday was nice. McQuain finally posted the spec for our first OOP project. He's defining a class for representing angles in DMS format and we have to implement it. Whee. He made some design choices I didn't think about. It will be a nice intellectual exercise.
Went to the SOAP meeting tonight. Not much happened. rainbowsaber showed up, and then left to get sleep before she has to go to her job at Parking Services, steering all the football fans away from the handicapped spaces. We played Munchkin (Peg won) and Fact or Crap (
matthiasrat won and I totally sucked -- my BS detector was wonky) before it started winding down. I decided to leave to go view Mars at the elementary school, at which point
robertliguori and
matthiasrat were discussing Discrete Mathematics.
devilkitten1 accompained me on the journey on foot. It took us about 45 minutes to get there, dodging the cars and the drunken partygoers that filled the streets like a poison in the veins of Suburbia. (Damn. I'm playing too much Max Payne. I beat the easy game this afternoon.) When we got there, we saw
vond and
kittenchan and
jdunson, helping people see Mars. When it was my turn, I looked into the telescope.
Mars looked like a bright star with a tint of orange on the edge. If you looked long enough, you could see a slightly darker splotch on the face of it. Later I found out that was was Syrtis Major, the darkest large surface feature on Mars. Somehow, I expected more. But such is the universe. devilkitten1 ran into a friend of hers who was willing to take me back to campus where
devilkitten1 was also going to catch her bus home. Good thing.
A multitude of events coming up. VTSFFC new member picnic on Sunday, and I'll be assembling the supercomputer on Monday afternoon. In that time I have Discrete and OOP homework to do. Whee.
Edit: I'm playing with the S2 style system. Expect frequent changes.
