Ramblings, or Stuff I Meant to Post Earlier But Didn't

OK, so this was Staples on Thursday, when Mom and I were hitting all the stores to find out if there was a place in town we could find a decent laptop. Mom sees this software package (Bejeweled and Alchemy -- games she plays all the time online) and starts whining like a little kid to get it for her (Payday was on Friday and I had money in the bank, for my laptop -- she didn't). After about 5 minutes of watching her do her best imitation of a whiny kid, I bought it to shut her up. Although it wasn't worth the $20 I had to pay for it.

The next scenario comes during our trip to the grocery store this evening. I hear Regis Philbin over the PA giving a "pop quiz": "What does a protractor measure?"Most people learn that in middle school and the powers that be consider this question some sort of intellectual challenge. Utterly ridiculous. Is this some kind of joke? Are they toying with us? I don't know. But does Regis Philbin have any other talents besides insulting people's intelli--

Oh, wait. I forgot. That's been his job for a while, hasn't it? Anyway, the raw sociopathy of it thoroughly annoyed me.

Found a SourceForge project for WASTE. They haven't done much to it so far, but they released a new version a few weeks ago. Might be worth checking out.
