My Friends Test Answers
Dec. 17th, 2003 08:01 pmSo, overall 7 people took my friend test.
tigerofthewind and
tadakimacun got 80s.
mephox got a 20. The rest of you who took it got 70s. I was holding for more people to try it, but since everyone else is posting their answers...
In what state was I born?
- Virginia (2)
- Maryland (2)
- West Virginia (3)
- Ohio (0)
- Pennsylvania (0)
Yup, I was born in West Virginia. I moved to Charlottesville when I was 5, however, so it didn't have a huge impact in my life, except that I spend 10 hours every holiday riding in the car.
What brand laptop do I own?
- Gateway (2)
- Apple (0)
- Dell (5)
- Acer (0)
- IBM (0)
I indeed have a Dell laptop. IBM and Acer were both too expensive, Gateway was nice but their graphics cards sucked, and Apple was incompatible with CS.
What is the first name of my roommate?
- Patrick (0)
- Robert (5)
- David (1)
- Ed (0)
- Ross (1)
My roommate is
robertliguori. Both Patrick and Ross are from VTSFFC and Spiel, Ed's from VTSFFC, and David was from my dysfunctional imagination.
Which Linux distro do I currently run?
- Mandrake (0)
- Debian (1)
- SuSE (1)
- Slackware (5)
- Gentoo (0)
Mandrake I did try at one point, but it didn't like my hardware. Debian I tried for two weeks trying to get ALSA to configure without hanging on boot, but to no avail. I have not tried SuSE or Gentoo. But I like Slackware. It's given me the least hassle over the months.
Which of these games do I NOT consider good?
- System Shock 2 (1)
- Half-Life (0)
- Deus Ex (0)
- Deus Ex: Invisible War (6)
I'm glad part of my rants sunk in. System Shock 2 is a very good game. So is Deus Ex. Half-Life is a step below these, but I like its mod system, so it gets a thumbs-up. Invisible War, however, is horse manure passed off as roast beef by Warren Spector, Eidos, and all the ass-kissing reviewers. It is an insult to Deus Ex's good name.
As of Fall 2003, which CS class do I consider to be the worst?
- Object Oriented Programming (2)
- UNIX (3)
- Data Structures (1)
- Intro to C (1)
- Operating Systems (0)
UNIX sucked. OOP was actually OK, as was Intro to C and Data Structures. I haven't taken OS yet.
Which Star Trek series do I like the most?
- Classic (1)
- The Next Generation (6)
- Deep Space Nine (0)
- Voyager (0)
- Enterprise (0)
Classic is OK, but I haven't really watched enough of it yet. The Next Generation was what I liked the most. DS9 was decent until the seventh season. Voyager was OK until about Season 4 or so. Enterprise was tripe from the start.
How would you describe my politics? (No four-letter words, please.)
- Left Libertarian (4)
- Left Authoritarian (3)
- Right Libertarian (0)
- Right Authoritarian (0)
What I put as the right answer is what the Political Compass had me as and what I personally consider myself to be. I understand if some people chose differently, based on how they interpreted statements made by me at times.
And, finally, have you stopped beating your SO yet?
- Yes (1)
- No (1)
- Mu (5)
This is, of course, a trick question. Answering "Yes" is not good, because it implies that you used to beat your SO previously on a regular basis. "No" is even less good, since it implies that you have and are continuing to beat your SO (of course, for
tadakimacun, who answered "No" on this question, that might be good or bad ;-) ). The proper choice is "Mu", which in modern geek jargon, translates to "Your question cannot be answered because it is based on incorrect assumptions."
Anyway, that was fun. Thanks to everyone for playing.
In other news: Miserably failed my Multivariable exam, but since it's only worth 10% of my grade, and I got almost straight As on every other piece of graded work, I should be fine. My OOP exam got pushed back to tomorrow morning. Spent most of the afternoon participating in Mozillazine's BugDay, where people went through the lists of unconfirmed bugs in Mozilla and Firebird. I resolved about 20 bugs in a three-hour period. Not bad.
Anyway, tomorrow is OOP and packing to leave. Not to mention downloading distractions for my laptop. Later.
