Haven't updated this in a while -- mainly, cause I wasn't sure I had anything to talk about...
Anyway, Technicon this year was...not the best TCon I've been to, IMO. The weather was great, and the hotel was an improvement, but there were problems on so many levels that I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have. Some of these I'll be bringing up when John has his first meeting. Most of the rest of it was that I couldn't see as many of my old friends as I wanted to. That kinda sucked. But I got some new games out of it (Diplomacy, Santiago, Guillotine, and Gang of Eight among others), so it wasn't a total loss.
I've been feeling antisocial lately. I think some of it has to do with the con sucking. Another part of it, I'm sure, is when I had to (figuratively) beat it into my supervisor at work that no, her assumptions about the problem I was having were wrong, and that she wasn't listening to what I'm saying. As some of you know, this is a bit of a pet peeve with me. Anyway, long story short, if I've been short or angry with you these past few days, please forgive me.
The other night, I got involved in local politics for the first time in years. I went to a town planning commission meeting to leave a comment about a resolution restricting the development of "big box" stores. My information seemed to be off, though -- all they were doing with it that day was referring it to committee. But they have a public hearing on it next month, and I plan to go. I saw some of my old activist friends. They were glad I showed up.
Class is starting up, so I'll sign off here. More to come, I'm sure...
