I decided to take a break from updating these past few days. Well, truth is that things only got interesting today. Still not quite employed. The guy didn't get back to me, so I called him. He needed another reference, since one of them didn't answer. I gave him my old scoutmaster. A good guy. After updating Mom, she told me to email him the reference and to update my online application to reflect that. She's being awfully paranoid about this, especially since it was her idea in the first place. "Joe's a slimeball," she says. "you can never be sure what he's gong to do." She thinks he's stringing me around -- for what purpose she doesn't know. Ah well. If I get the job, I get the job, and if not, I have contingencies. She's asking me to start checking out other businesses for jobs. I think it's a bit premature, but fine. She really needs to get off my back...

I was invited to the local Masonic Lodge this evening for their annual Eagle Scout recognition dinner. Lots of old guys, one of them some Grand Poobah from England -- Oxford, to be precise. Dinner was served, which was pretty bad and gave my mom diarrhea -- lucky I didn't eat much. Then came the ceremony, which involved the two Scout bigwigs that were Masons to call us forward, have each one of us give a short spiel about our projects, then receive our certificates. Then we left, and I headed to Arby's for some food. Mom then proceeded to floor it back home. Funny what collard greens can do to a person like my mother.

And that's pretty much it for today. New ISP still hasn't given me logon information, wrote them a stronger email. And I'm planning to see a friend of mine from high school tomorrow.
