Work has finally caught up with me, and I didn't finish debugging my CS project in time to turn it in. I have no idea what's wrong with it. Despite the fact I was desparately ill, I had no doctor's note to prove it (for lack of access to doctors in BBurg, as well as cash for an exam), so I got no extension. I'm dead. I don't want to fail this course...

That and Bush says Saddam must leave Iraq within 48 hours or be bombed to hell. This is all too shocking. I feel like I'm in some sort of a surrealistic nightmare...I wanna wake up...

Hun, you can go to the health center for free here and at least get something to help you feel better, plus they'll give you a note. In fact, you might want to do that anyway. I know you weren't feeling good on sunday. Call them and see if you can get an appointment. They'll check you over, hand you something to make you feel better or suggest things you can do, give you the note and you can explain to your professor what happened.

Heh, funny...I called today to schedule an appointment. They were full today, but they told me to go to this "self-care" cold clinic they had. Kinda silly, you fill out this questionnaire, take your temperature, and check your tonsils with a mirror and those disposable tongue depressors. After you check whatever you need to on the form, you give it to the receptionist, she signs it, and gives you the medication you asked for on the form. So I got medicine and an excuse form! And an extension! Yay!

Also, you're going to have to try really hard to fail. Look at it like this:
Assume that you are getting a B+. That is to say: my current grade is a B+, and you certainly aren't dumber than me. Now, also assume that this B+ is a reflection of your understanding of the material and ability to work while bacteria are not making you into their bitch. (You know, considering that said bacteria are using you as a source of shelter and nutrients while they reproduce, that's not a wholly innacurate comic exaggeration. Ponder that sometime. Bwahahah. Anyway, as I was saying...)
Now, posit that you get no credit for project 2. Not very likely: you can still get the software engineering and misc points. But anyway, assume that you get a 0 on project 2.
Because I haven't pulled enough numbers out of my ass yet, let's make up a number of total points for the class. 2*100 [tests] + 200 [exam] + 4*100 [projects 1-4] + 50 [random quiz and assignment points] = 850 potential points.

Averaging B+ on everything but project 2: [.89 - .87] * 750 = [667.5 - 652.5]
[667.5 - 652.5] / 850 = [.785 - .768]

Now, posit that you can get points by demoing in a week or just getting design points. Posit that you are getting a wimpy B+ (.87).

(652.5 + x) / 850 = .8
x = 27.5

Get a 27.5 on project 2 and maintain a wimpy B+, and you end up with a B- in the course.

So, in summary, you're not gunna fail.
