Out of the Cold
Jul. 24th, 2005 08:02 pmWow, I need to update this more often. I meant to, but I saw no purpose in it. I'm here now, that's what counts.
I don't suppose there's much to talk about. I got some new toys, partially from my salary, partially from Origins. A good deal of RPG books, including Paranoia XP (squee), Silver Age Sentinels (Tri-Stat superheroes), and Transhuman Space (GURPS Posthuman), among others. TransEuropa, Just Desserts, and a stash of Icehouse pieces I purchased afterward. Origins itself was pretty good. The Lab was in a new location, but it didn't seem to matter much. I managed to get out of the Lab more, participating in a Nuclear War tourney and a Paranoia LARP (and being completely confused in the latter). All in all, a good con. Though I don't want to take the bus there again. The one who said that the journey is more important than the destination clearly never rode Greyhound for 16 hours.
Back at home, I've been doing pretty much nothing. Tried lining up a job at a temp agency, but they haven't had any work for me. I doubt there's much point now, seeing as I leave for Tech in a few weeks. I met up with a few friends from high school, and I see them now and again. I've watched DVDs that Mom gets in a constant stream anymore, due to the combination of a Suncoast discount card and cheap Wal-Mart movies. I've seen Andromeda through Season 4, and I don't think Mom should get season 5 (if season 4 was any indication). And I've been busy playing games as well.
The necessity to pack has dawned upon me recently, as I have nothing else to do. I'll get started on that soon. I'm glad that I'm going to get to come back soon, for I miss you all. I haven't seen much of Charlottesville outside of these four walls since I got back from Origins. Mom, for instance, wouldn't take me to the 4th of July celebration; too tired to deal with the logistics. I'll be glad to get back to a place where I can be myself again.
