Sic transit annum

In a couple of hours, 2004 will be gone. I, for one, will be somewhat glad to see it go, for it is my belief that things have gotten worse in general. We went to war in Iraq, Bush has been reelected, the MPAA have joined the RIAA in suing their customers, Suprnova's off the net, and Virginia Tech is on its way to privatization. And that's just the highlights.

In addition, I've noticed things about me getting worse as well. For starters, I've fallen back into some old patterns of behavior that have ruffled a few feathers with my friends. I've become more edgy, more likely to take things personally, and at times more of a jerk. If you have been the target of this, I'm sorry. I am going to work on not letting it happen anymore.

I've noticed that my grades are slipping. I find that, recently, I can't really concentrate on my classes enough to get work done. I'm not sure if this is my old pattern of laziness or if I'm starting to find the classes dull. Probably the former. This year I'll have a somewhat heavier courseload -- Pubic Speaking, Physics, and DiffEQ (take 2). Oh, and HCI, but that's a breeze, I've been told. Anyway, I'm going to work on this as well.

Anyway, enjoy the last couple of hours of 2004, have a Happy New Year, and here's hoping 2005 will be better than 2004.
