Worked a little more on the Textinator. No new release yet, though.
I went downstairs to get dinner when I noticed a sotry on the news that the city council was going to discuss a resolution opposing the USA PATRIOT Act. Being the civic-minded perosn that I am, I decided to attend.
It was a typical city council meeting. Long, boring, etc. I spoke on the PATRIOT Act and attempted to sound eloquent. Others did too. In the end, they passed a version amended not to conflict with federal law and to keep the City from going out on a whim. Which, I thought, was the whole point about passing a resolution opposing the USA PATRIOT Act -- to resist it. One councilman called putting teeth in it "bad policy." To me, the PATRIOT Act is worse policy. The council, I think, is willing to pass a resolution that would make the city look fashionable, but is unwilling to actually do anything about it. I find that sad. To their credit, though, a few of the councilmembers discussed drafting an ordinance to enforce the resolution. I hope it passes.
So that 's my day. It's going to be hell tomorrow, though. Oh, and I think I'm going to get a Dell for my laptop. Dude!
