Where the hell have I been?
Jun. 30th, 2003 05:21 pm"Vacation" was barely tolerable. About what I expected -- I was dragged to faux-historical sites where they sold crafts at exorbitant prices. They sat at home, not wanting to go to the Pittsburgh Zoo (~2 hours from where we were) because they "couldn't stand the traffic". And talking. Loads of talking. Just the two of them gabbing about everything. My every habit and behavior was scrutinized -- I felt like I was under a microscope. The highlight of the trip was a visit to a nearby amusement place, with laser tag, indoor(!) go-karts, motorized water boats, mini-golf, and a neat 3D haunted house. Anyway, I'm glad to be home.
Returned to find that I had made the Dean's List. Yippee! Also got my big, fat paycheck. It's still going to be about August till I have that laptop in my hands. Mom insisted I go to the UVA Computer Store, which marks up about as much as the VT Bookstore on computers. Right now, Compaq looks to be the best option for getting a laptop. They're the only ones I've found so far with Athlon-M processors (Intel's too expensive). MP 2400, 256 MB RAM, 30G HD, Radeon 7000, and a DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive for less than $1200. Not bad.
And now to dinner and unlocking the secrets of my mysterious beeping keyboard.
