May. 3rd, 2003 02:15 amOK. Didn't do laundry, but instead laid on bed and read book. Phased in and out of consciousness for a couple of hours. Then I woke up and felt good for some reason. Decided to take a walk. I went to the Duckpond and back again. Saw the pretty ducks. Felt oddly energetic. On my way back, I saw the Two Town Trolley, which reminded me -- I had to go to Wal-Mart. Bogged down with bag, I decided to go home and wait for its next run, checking my bank account and dropping off my bag in the process. Planned out logistics of the upcoming Peaks of Otter trip on my way back. Snagged a Fresca from the Pritchard "Stress-Free Zone", which is now my lunch drink for that trip. Went to Wal-Mart, got minutes for my cell and tape to assemble boxes from uilos.
There was free ice cream at Pritchard tonight, so I went and got in line with the rest of them. When I got there, there were these five guys acting like morons, throwing pillows at each other and yelling at the guy with a cell phone below. I suddenly realized how sheltered I had been from these sorts of people during my time here. During the handing out of the ice cream, robertliguori showed up. I got mine, covered it with M&Ms (wish they had gummy bears) and syrup and whipped cream. I called it Chocolate Bedlam.
Talked with robertliguoriabout life and what we wanted to do while --- and after -- we were in college. I've made up my mind that I should do something that could get me published. I came close to that, when my Honors Freshman English teacher submitted my end-of-term project for consideration to be included in the First-Year Writing Guide. AFAIK, it never made it there. Ah well. There are other things to get published for. VTURCS (CS undergrad research) is an obvious option, but I'm not sure what kind of skills I need to do that sort of work. I sat in on their introductions last semester, and I was convinced that such projects were beyond me for the time being. But with what I have learned now...maybe.
Went back to room, played Half-Life. I got frustrated after a while, so I played on the net, Eventuallly ended up at nixve's webcomic. I particularly liked the Two Towers/Nemesis strip. Finally, someone who agrees with me that Nemesis sucked!!! Thank you! And then I got here.
Satyrday is going to be fun. Laundry (no putting it off now), preliminary packing, and (if Hatfield gets his ass in gear) the SF exam. On second thought, SF can wait till Monday.
