Sep. 24th, 2003 06:46 pm- Unix -- both lecture and lab -- were boring this week. Learning about the X window system. Gifford once again exposed his utter stupidity by assuming we all liked and preferred "pretty pictures". Idiot. The lab wasn't much better.
- Had my Chem test, got an 88 on it. Relatively little work this week -- no lab report, thank the gods. Our recitation TA wants extra work done on one of the homework problems, on pain of a lower grade. Can any TA in this school not be a controlling taskmaster for once in their lives?
- Discrete Math test was today. I felt good about it, despite my botching of a relatively easy problem. But Brown said something to me that annoyed me. It had to do with a jest he made on the way to the testing room about taking the two of us (who had accommodations for the test) that he would "put us in a room and shoot us." I, of course, recognized it as a joke. He took it back later, saying he would "only shoot one of us". I tried to play along with the joke -- "Well, I guess that's what I get for being a smartass," I said. This prompted a discussion of how the other students were not agreeable with my in-class behavior, that he thought I talked because I liked to hear the sound of my own voice, and that I should "put a sock in it" for the better of the class. I admit, I am a smart-ass at times, but...Brown? Pot? Kettle? Black? In any case, I have no plans of modifying my own behavior because Brown has a problem with it.
And that's it for now. I leave you with The Cornell CS Songbook. I swear I'm not making this up.
