I just found this very interesting artricle. It describes how Bush utilizes emotional language in his speeches for political gain. It helps to explain a lot of questions I've had -- mainly, why someone mainstream hasn't called bullshit on Bush over Iraq. Maybe they should read this article...

Two comments after reading it.

#1 It's _The Nation_. I know democrats that refuse to read it because they say it's too biased.

#2 Every political speech I've ever heard contain these same techniques, particularly Clinton's. It's nothing new.

- Wow, a speech writer actually using psychology stuff they went to school for several years to learn? Quite a scoop! (What, you didn't think presidents write their own speeches do you?)

- Er, regarding mainstream and Iraq... do you actually read/watch anything mainstream? It's about all they can seem to find to talk about...
