My LAST Experiment with Bittorrent

It's finally happened. After managing not to get caught for many years, I got an email today saying that they caught me sharing an episode of Battlestar Galactica. I sent a reply to the DMCA admin, so my bandwidth is safe...at least, until the Judicial Board gets through with me.

I guess I should have been more careful. I have never been very paranoid about my computer and what I do with it. I guess that changes right now. Bittorrent is out. So are most forms of P2P. AFAIK, the only two file-sharing programs that use encrypted traffic are WASTE and MUTE. That's prolly what I'll be sticking with for a good while, as my network connection will doubtless be under surveillance.

I wish this didn't happen. I guess the only thing to do now is to learn from the experience, and move on.

No your connection won't be under surveillance, at least not by VT. VT only responds to DMCA requests, it doesn't do anything proactive.

My friend got busted too. All he had to do was read a book on ethics. Hopefully your punishment will also be as light.

Well, I should mention that there are LEGITIMATE uses of bittorrent. Example: World of WarCraft beta updates were done, at least of late, through the use of a torrent file. Rather nifty, there. Clever use of the tech.
